3.2 Connecting Tools and Applications

With the component catalog populated, you will now connect the tools and applications identified in section 2.1 to Compass. Connecting tools to Compass requires collaboration between the tool's owner and the team responsible for Compass, as administrator rights are required across both tools.

Tools can be added to Compass over time; however, connecting tools is a requirement if data in these tools will be required for scorecards.

Instructions for connecting each tool to Compass can be found on the corresponding page in the Compass Marketplace or on the Compass Guides website under Integrations.

3.2.1 Connecting Compass to Jira

Connecting Compass to Jira adds significant value to developers and the teams they work with. Linking Jira issues with Compass components adds significant context to the work being delivered and helps reduce developers' cognitive load. Among other benefits, developers are able to directly draw a link between tasks they are assigned and the software component they relate to.
