Third-party connectors
Supported connectors
Rovo can connect with third-party SaaS apps such as Google Drive, SharePoint, Teams, Figma, and others using Rovo Connectors. Connected data sources power search and Rovo AI-driven Chat and Agent experiences, helping teams find and access personalized knowledge across Atlassian and all your connected data sources. Rovo quickly indexes data while respecting the permissions you’ve set in Rovo and third-party connected data sources.
There are two types of connectors:
- Admin-managed connectors - These connectors show results based on enabled objects supported by each connector. They require admin set up.
-
Smart Link connectors - These connectors transform URLs into interactive content previews, allowing end users to view the included material without needing to navigate away from the page where the Smart Link is embedded. No admin set up is required.
Rovo permissions with third-party connectors
Rovo respects existing permissions set in third-party SaaS apps. This, in combination with strong end-to-end encryption keeps your data safe by ensuring that user can only see what they're allowed to view across Atlassian apps and connected data sources.
Recommended third-party data sources to install
To speed up your time to value, you should identify 6-8 high priority third-party SaaS apps to be connected first. Focus on the data sources that:
- Contain frequently accessed content
- Are critical to business operations
- Have structured or semi-structured data that benefits from indexing
The following sources are an example of connectors to consider first because they often meet the criteria above:
- Document repositories: Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox
- Knowledge bases: Notion, Zendesk Help Center
- Email and communication: Outlook Mail, MS Teams
- CRM systems: HubSpot
-
File servers or CMS: Internal wikis, Internal knowledge bases, GitHub
Set up your priority connectors
- One of the biggest delays in connecting third-party apps is the need for internal approvals from app owners and security teams. It's recommended to start the approval process early to avoid unnecessary delays.
- Before connecting Rovo to any third-party apps, verify what data each app indexes to ensure compliance with your organization's data policies. Unrestricted content may appear in search results or be used by Rovo Agents or Rovo Chat.
- To connect individual third-party apps using admin-managed connectors, see the specific support guide for each connector.
- If needed, configure and manage blocklists for certain connectors such as Google Drive and Microsoft Sharepoint to control data access.
Note: Each end user is required to establish their own connection to the external app once connected by an admin. When this step is completed, Rovo can use and display the data that each user is authorized to access within Rovo Search, Chat, and Agents.
